The parish is located on extensive grounds with a park-like setting. Our school is accessible and simple in layout with attractive classrooms, a well-equipped gymnasium, student library, art room, science lab, computer lab, music room, and stage. We have kitchen facilities to serve daily hot lunch, and a before/after school supervision room. The school area features a large blacktopped playground / parking area, a climbing play yard for little ones, and a large grass sports field which allows plenty of space for various activities.
St. Rita property is also home to an Augustinian monastery. Our pastor, other priests, and novices are in residence. Our church has a first-class shrine of Saint Rita of Cascia, and there are other outdoor shrines on the parish grounds, as well. On October 9, 2005, our parish dedicated our new accessible, comfortable church worship space.
The school offers sequential programs for students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade in reading/literature, language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. We feature daily instruction and experiences in religion, which permeates all programs. We also provide instruction in physical education, art, music, and technology. Students have exposure to Spanish language as well.
We emphasize full-spectrum reading/language arts instruction incorporating phonics, grammar, handwriting, and spelling along with strong emphasis in literature and writing. A reading block-time Gr. 1-5 allows acceleration of gifted students. We can also provide assistance with remediation of students to meet their needs. All students must be able to be educated in a standard setting, but we will also work with families to implement strategies for some special needs. In the mathematics program, we foster computation skills and problem solving, along with real-world and manipulative practice. We have a technology lab, iPad minis, and laptops for student use. Technology is up to date and used by all.
We take pride in preparing our graduates for a successful high school experience. Our students at all levels enjoy a high quality of education from our wonderful staff.
Religious & Civic Focus
Building on the foundation of values taught in the home and in the parish community, we focus on Catholic doctrine, practice, and heritage. Daily faith experiences of prayer and religious lessons are coupled with expectations of self-respect and respect for all others. Students participate in weekly liturgies, seasonal prayer services and activities, and many other traditional celebrations of faith, including Festa Saint Rita Day in May to honor our patron saint. St. Rita students have opportunities for community outreach annually, such as collections for missions and charitable causes and community cleanup days. Our philosophy as a school calls us to assist in the growth of well-educated and responsible Christian citizens and parishioners.
